Jimoco Cafe

Situated in a busy location on Austin Ave, Jimoco Cafe definitely attracts a lot of visitors - and it's no surprise why.
I came here with Eric on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a 15 minute wait at the door. This dainty little Italian restaurant seems to always have a wait at the door no matter what time of the day it is.
Aside from their delicious dishes, I believe it is their 2 for 1 pasta deal that drives everyone here. Our first impression of this place was that it smelled very good xD.

It was me & Eric's first time at Jimoco's, so we obviously tried the 2 for 1 pasta.
You can pick any two pastas, and pay for the price of one (whichever one is more expensive).

So Eric ordered the Spaghetti all'amatriciana Lazio ($18.95)
Guanciale (pork jowl), mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and pecorino cheese.
Looks pretty good, right?

The portions weren't huge but enough to fill us up pretty good. We do have very small appetites so if you're a hungry 7ft. giant looking for a satisfying meal, consider ordering a pizza on the side or something. I was a little disappointed because this dish was supposed to have pork jowl in it. Either Eric ate all the pork jowl, or it just came in very little tiny pieces, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to big chunky bites of meat :$

I ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo ($15.95) and added chicken as a side for an extra $5

When the dish first came out, the fettuccine was sitting in a pool of cream sauce that seemed a little more watery than usual, but after adding some parmesan cheese and letting the plate cool down a little, the texture of the sauce was perfect! All the flavours went together very well.
Although both plates were good, Eric and I both preferred the fettuccine alfredo.

I was once told that you'll know how clean a restaurant's kitchen is, by looking at the cleanliness of their washrooms. In a way, it makes sense because if they care about keeping the kitchen clean, it only makes sense for them to clean the washroom too. If I remember correctly, the washroom at Jimoco's wasn't exactly the most pleasant. I just had a weird feeling about it, which makes me wonder exactly how clean the entire place is.. oh well, at least my plate was clean. Will be back again. Next time I hope to try their pizza.
